THUNDER BAY -- The city may be facing its seventh homicide of 2012 after an assault victim died.

Moses Meekis Kakekagumick, 28, was assaulted last December at a home on Brant Street. He passed away at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre Tuesday evening.

His girlfriend, Kimberly Fox was originally charged with aggravated assault. Her next court appearance is Monday.

“We’ll be consulting with the Crown attorney for consideration of elevating the charges,” said William Quarrell, who is acting staff Sgt for Thunder Bay Police Service’s Criminal Investigation Branch.

“I anticipate after the Crown consultation we’ll know what we’re going to do and it will be decided by then.”

As for details of the incident, Quarrell said there isn’t much he can say.

“It’s an open case in court, the information we have to date is obviously going to be used in the trial so I really can’t comment much more on than we already have,” he said.
