Several multi-vehicle collisions forced OPP to close Highway 17 east of Upsala on Saturday afternoon, but police say after clearing the vehicles from the crash site, the highway has been re-opened.

"One collision involved eight transports as well as maybe 20 individual accidents ranging from passenger cars ditched as well as transports that were ditched. One went sideways! It was a mess and judging from the reports of the media and the OPP it is being played down," witness Kim Dudley wrote to tbnewswatch on Saturday evening.

The closure extended from Upsala to Shabaqua.
