A man is in hospital Saturday night after being struck by a vehicle on the corner of Arthur and Norah streets.

The 53-year-old man was walking his dog when police allege the pair was struck by a 44-year-old woman. The dog was seriously hurt and is under the care of a veterinarian.

The woman was arrested and charged with fail to remain and drive while disqualified.

Police have named neither the victim nor the suspect.

Their investigation continues.

Now look! If she had blown over the legal limit her name would have been plastered all over the media.
However you can actually hit someone, presumably because of incompetence and most likely get away with a slap on the wrist.

I am not promoting drinking and driving but I think that all life threatening offenses should be treated equally.

Instead of foaming at the mouth to know the culprit's name why don't you show a bit of concern for the victims here? The woman's name will come out in due time....just calm down a little.

Perhaps the release from the police didn't include it. Think before foaming at the mouth as sky high suggests

Publish her name so that her friends will know she was breaking the law. If this was a drunk driver, or a "john" you would have published the name. It's only fair.

Johns???? When was the last time you saw the name of a john on this site or in the newspaper?? Haha...come on.

Driving while disqualified has a far bigger fine attached to it that, than, let's say, running a red light and killing someone.

Where does it say that they weren't walking facing traffic?

Not saying its his fault but I see too many people walking jogging on a road that has already been narrowed because of snow. Gotta use common sense

Doug Meyers says:
Considering the number of people who drive while disqualified, perhaps the fine for doing so should be much greater. The consequences for breaking the law need to be severe enough to make people think twice before doing so.

I hope the man and his dog will be ok, sounds like the dog is hurt really bad. Some people just never learn this is really sad.

Ok people i read the articles on here and on every single article all there is is whining complaining yes i understand that everyone is entitled to their own opinion but like come on this story is about a man and his dog getting hit have some decency and think about the problem at hand instead of chewing everyone's comments apart...grow up

I also hope the man and dog is ok. The police should publish the woman's name so we all know to stay off the roads while she is driving!!

tsb says:
Yes, that is a logical argument because there is a national database of drivers that we all log into when we start our cars! Just watch that list and if you see someone who has been mentioned in the news, don't drive!!!!

spooner19 says:
Wow, someone posts that they hope the dog is ok and people jump all over this person for his post? The storey says the dog is seriously hurt, sounds like the man is going to be ok according to the storey. What is wrong with someone posting i hope the dog is going to be ok? I too hope the dog is going to be ok along with the man. If you read the storey it does not sound like the man is in serious condition such as the dog. You people need to relax rather than jumping to conclusions about what someone is actually saying! There was nothing wrong with Lances comment saying i hope the dog is going to be ok, use some common sense here!
