Three Thunder Bay representatives will play a role on the Northern Policy Institute's inaugural board of directors.

Doug Murray and Madge Richardson have been named to the 10-person board. Lakehead University president Brian Stevenson and Laurentian University’s Dominic Giroux will serve as voting ex-officio members of the board.

The board is scheduled to convene at Algoma University in Sault Ste. Marie for its first official meeting on Feb. 20.

A chair and vice-chair are expected to be elected during the meeting. The board will then be tasked with recruiting a Northern Policy Institute founding executive director.

Other members appointed to the board include:

  • Florence Bailey (Sioux Lookout)
  • Martin Bayer (Sudbury)
  • Thérèse Bergeron-Hopson (Timmins)
  • Harley d’Entremont (North Bay)
  • George Macey (Marathon)
  • Hal McGonigal (Sault Ste.Marie)
