The 31-year-old victim of a Sunday assault has been released from the hospital.

The man was allegedly assaulted in the 400 block of May Street on March 17 around 7 p.m.

Jonah Law Yellowhead, 18, has been charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.

The assault with a weapon charge is the result of the accused allegedly confronting a 40-year-old female bystander that tried to intervene in the initial assault by telling the accused to stop assaulting the victim.

Yellowhead allegedly confronted the woman with a broken beer bottle. The witness was not injured.

TB Newswatch learned from a witness the assault took place in a laneway behind Almada Upholstery and that the suspect was arrested at a convenience store a few blocks away. Police have not confirmed these details.

The accused appeared in court Monday morning. He has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance on March 19.

None of the allegations have been proven in court.
