Karen Lewis named CEDC interim CEO

Thunder Bay’s Community Economic Development Commission has a new interim CEO.

Thunder Bay’s Community Economic Development Commission has a new interim CEO.

Karen Lewis, the city’s director of corporate communications and strategic initiatives, assumes the role immediately, taking over for Steve Demmings who retired earlier this year.

“Karen’s strong communications, leadership and management skills will be an asset to the CEDC,” said Paul Inksetter, chairman of the CEDC’s board of directors in a release issued on Wednesday.

“We are very fortunate to have her join our team on an interim basis.”

Lewis was the lead facilitator when the CEDC was first proposed, taking it from a developmental model  in 2006 to the search for the founding CEO.
