Michael Gravelle doesn't expect an election anytime soon.
The longtime Liberal MPP for Thunder Bay-Superior North said his upcoming nomination meeting is just a chance to renew his commitment to the party and his constituents. After some soul searching during a recent bout with cancer, Gravelle said he realized how much he loves his job and how much work there is left to do.
"Revitalized in fact," Gravelle said. "I discovered on a personal basis as my strength really began to return is really how much I care about this work."
With Queen's Park getting back to work Sept. 9. Gravelle said he wanted the nomination meeting held before legislature resumes.
Social justice, the completion of the four-laning to Nipigon, the Ring of Fire and the forestry industry's rebound are just a few things Gravelle wants to be MPP for.
"There's not other way to put it than I love my job," he said. "These things still mean a great deal to me."
The Progressive Conservatives chose Tamara Johnson while Andrew Foulds got the NDP nomination. The Liberal meeting will be held at the Italian Cultural Centre Sept. 3 starting at 6:30 p.m.
