Highway 11 reopened after two closures

After a busy day, Highway 11 is opened and back to normal. The Ontario Provincial Police had to close portions of the route between Nipigon and Beardmore on two separate occassions Sunday morning following collisions involving tractor trailers.

The Ontario Provincial Police had to close portions of the route between Nipigon and Beardmore on two separate occassions Sunday morning following collisions involving tractor trailers.

The OPP closed a stretch of the highway between Nipigon and Beardmore late Sunday morning following a single vehicle collision.

A tractor trailer rolled over and caught fire. Fire crews responded, and the lone occupant of the vehicle suffered minor injuries.

This closure came just a few short hours after a two-vehicle accident closed the highway near Beardmore for four hours.

A section of the highway two-kilometres west of the municipality was was closed shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday morning after a collision between two tractor trailers.

One of them was upended, and was on its side completely blocking the highway.

The OPP announced the highway was reopened a few hours later, and there were no reported injuries.
