An improper release of chlorine resulted in a hazardous materials response and the evacuation of the Canada Games Complex.
Fire crews responded to the Complex at 8:15 p.m. on Saturday evening and cleared the building, sending some of the occupants to take shelter in the Port Arthur Arena.
The release was triggered by a staff member improperly mixing chemicals, and it took fire crews nearly five hours to remove the chemicals and restore the building to safe conditions.
One Complex staff member was taken to hospital as a result of inhalation, and his condition is unknown.
The Complex has since been returned to normal operations.
