A woman struck by a city bus remains in critical condition.

Thunder Bay Police Traffic Sgt. Glenn Porter said 72-year-old Audrey Kahkonen was hit by a Thunder Bay Transit bus just before 7 p.m. on Thursday at the intersection of Algoma and Waverly Streets.

“She was crossing the street from the east side to the west side and she was struck by the southbound bus,” Porter said.

Kahkonen was rushed to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre and remained there as of late Friday afternoon.

“She’s got quite a fight ahead of her, and if you’re so inclined you might want to say a little prayer for her,” Porter said.

He was not able to comment on the investigation, but said investigators expect to be finished by Monday.
