Christmas Day is one of the busiest days of the year for Shelter House.
With the George Street shelter at capacity with its beds, executive director Patty Hajdu says they will be offering hot meals as usual Christmas Eve and Christmas Day at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. with the big holiday feast set for Wednesday afternoon.
Along with the festive meal, Santa will be in attendance handing out gifts.
"We try to celebrate Christmas and make it as fun as possible for everybody in need," said Hajdu.
The holiday meal is usually the shelter's biggest crowd, drawing in more than 200 people.
They try to go the extra mile to make it a special meal.
"It's a fun way for people to come out and spend time with family in a way that's affordable and that's supportive in a compassionate setting," Hajdu said.
The Salvation Army also tries to make their Christmas meal a special event for its patrons, giving out gifts and providing a ham dinner.
Executive director Maj. Rob Kerr said their men's shelter hasn't reached capacity yet, so they still have room.
The shelter has 17 beds with an overflow capacity for 42 people.
"We are here if there is someone who is out on the street and needs a warm place to sleep," Kerr said.
