A driver was sent to hospital after a truck rolled into a ditch on the city's north side.

Police, fire and paramedics were at the scene early Christmas Eve near Arundel Street, just after 10 a.m., responding to a call that a truck had left the road.

A woman driving the truck was trapped inside the vehicle at the time of the call.

Emergency crews were able to extract the driver and send her to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, where she was treated for  minor injuries, according to crews on scene.

Police were on scene directing traffic and say an investigation is underway.
