City police are warning snowmobilers that despite recent freezing temperatures there are still area waterways  not completely ice covered.

The Thunder Bay Police Service issued a warning Monday morning about open section of the Kaministiquia River near the Stanley area.  Photographs taken by Const. Bill Pullock on Saturday, and provided to the media Monday, show an open section of water.

Despite recent temperatures below -30C, police are warning snowmobilers to take special care when travelling on or near the Kam River.

Police also ask snowmobilers to know the trail and ice conditions if they plan to travel on a lake or river.
