The local aviation world has lost one of its pioneers.

Harvey Friesen, a pilot who in 1972 began his takeover of Bearskin Airlines, died suddenly on Sunday in California. He was 65.

Friesen and his brother Cliff turned the regional carrier into a success story, eventually selling the airline in 2011 for $32.5 million.

The brothers remained in executive roles with Bearskin after the sale.

Gone West......." Not alone into the sunset but into the company of friends who have gone before him". A sad loss for the Canadian Aviation Industry.

Very sad.
The man was a genius.
The Friesen name is synonymous with success in S. Manitoba.
They do know how to run business.
