Truck driver involved in north-side collision sought

Thunder Bay Police are looking for the driver of a pick-up truck involved in a collision at Clarkson and Windsor streets on Thursday afternoon.

Thunder Bay Police are looking for the driver of a pick-up truck involved in a collision at Clarkson and Windsor streets on Thursday afternoon.

Police say the driver of the pick-up did stop and had a conversation with the driver of a green Chevrolet Uplander also involved in the collision, but did not leave his name or other information needed for the police report.

Drivers involved in collisions where the combined damage tops $1,000 are required by law to file a report with police.

On a related note, police say they’re noticing a rash of hit-and-run collisions in parking lots and on other private property.

By not leaving contact information or taking off, vehicle owners are often stuck with paying the deductible portion of their insurance claims.

“This can be a very difficult thing for anyone on a fixed or limited income,” said Traffic Sgt. Glenn Porter in a release.
