Police raid nets Oxycodone pills, marijuana

A search of an Algonquin Avenue home has resulted in the seizure of more than $27,000 worth of drugs. OPP say on Feb.

A search of an Algonquin Avenue home has resulted in the seizure of more than $27,000 worth of drugs.

OPP say on Feb. 10, drug enforcement officers with the combined forces organized crime enforcement bureau executed a search warrant centring on a a northside home.

Police seized 391 Oxycodone pills worth $4,700 and 2.5 pounds of marijuana worth about $23,000.

Investigators also seized $755 in cash.

Wayne Alenko, 66, and Beverly Meekis, 34, of Thunder Bay were both charged with possession of Oxycodone and marijuana for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000.

The combined forces organized crime enforcement bureau consists of members from the OPP, Thunder Bay Police Service, Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service and Anishinabek Police Service.
