A water main break on South Court Street has left 22 homes without water.
The break was reported around 7 a.m. Thursday on Court Street between John Street and Cornwall Avenue; water flooded down to Water Street, where a portion of that roadway was closed until around 10 a.m.
"We've since plowed it and sanded it and Water Street is re-opened and we're working on repairing the break," said Gerald Luty, supervisor for sewer and water north with the City of Thunder Bay.
Luty said the repairs could take well into the evening but he couldn't put a firm time on when the break would be fixed.
"There are so many different factors of utilities in the way and the amount of frost and the type of break it is," he said.

Water main breaks have become an almost daily occurrence across the city.
Luty told tbnewswatch.com on Tuesday that crews have been responding to an average of one or two breaks per day over the past few weeks.
There has been more activity than usual during the last decade, but Luty said it's similar to the freezing and breaks the city experienced 40 years ago.
