Two North Shore communities are seeing a shuffle in their town halls.

Schreiber mayor Don McArthur is stepping down to accept the job as the town’s Chief Administrative Officer, and will be replaced by Coun. Mark Figliomeni.

Figliomeni, a first term councillor, will serve as mayor until the upcoming municipal elections later this year. He has said that he intends to run for the job on a permanent basis.

The opening became available for McArthur after former CAO Jonathan Hall accepted the same position in Terrace Bay.

Terrace Bay is in the middle of attempting to expand housing stock and attract commerical tourism investment despite losing $500,000 from the town’s tax base due to a deal struck with the Birla pulp mill.
