The lingering winter kept OPP officers busy with a pair of morning highway crashes. Officials with the Thunder Bay detachment say officers responded to a collision on Highway 11/17 east of Mapleward Road.

Police say the driver of an SUV was heading west when the driver lost control of her vehicle, rolling it over before stopping in the eastbound ditch.

The woman was transported to the hospital via ambulance and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

At 8:45 a.m., officers responded to a crash on Highway 61 between Arthur Street and the Harbour Expressway.

The driver of another SUV was heading north on the highway when she lost control of her vehicle, striking a light post stand before stopping in the northbound ditch.

Firefighters with Thunder Bay Fire Rescue attended the scene and extricated the driver.

The woman transported to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries.

There were no other occupants in the vehicle.

The vehicle sustained extensive damage.
