In its haste to respond to a possible robbery call, a city police car wound up in a crash.
A Thunder Bay Police Service marked cruiser collided a sedan at about 9:30 p.m. on Friday.
The police car was heading south on Waterloo Street when it came into contact with the sedan at the Victoria Avenue intersection.
Both vehicles sustained significant damage and an officer as well as two occupants of the sedan had minor injuries.
The intersection was closed for nearly three hours as the traffic unit investigated.
The officer was attempting to respond to a robbery call at the Mac’s convenience store on South Syndicate Avenue.
A woman proceeded to the cashier with numerous items but the clerk observed an item in her pocket. When asked, the suspect then claimed to have a weapon and fled the store.
She is described as an Aboriginal female in her mid-20’s with a thin build, dark hair and a black parka.
