With their contract up May 31, Bombardier employees are ready to meet with company officials at the bargaining table.

Unifor Local 1075 president Dominic Pasqualino says they haven't started official talks yet, but have made their intentions to start negotiations know.

"At the end of the day our goal is to have a good contract that's fair on both sides and to do it as soon as possible," he said.

The union represents about 1,100 employees at the local plant and Pasqualino said they want to ensure they maintain benefits and pensions.

They'd also like to see a slight wage increase in accordance with inflation.

"We wouldn't be looking to go backwards," said Pasqualino.

The union represents 1100 members at the plant. I would like to know,of the 1100, how many are working?

1100, except those on vacation, off sick, or injured. Just like anywhere else.

That information has been on this site repeatedly, most often from me. There are about 1400 people working at bombardier right now.

The union should fight to maintain what they have. I get that. But please do not demand unrealistic wages or benefits and the company do not demand concessions while things are going better than they have in a decade.

this has been great for our city. Let's keep it that way.
