The fraud case involving the former chair of the Christmas Cheer Fund continues to move forward.

Linda Gambee, represented by attorney Gil Labine, had her case adjourned until May 13.

Gambee, 60, has been charged with fraud over $5,000 and breach of trust after Thunder Bay Police Service investigators allege she defrauded the charitable organization of $22,000.

Police received a complaint in January from the Christmas Cheer Fund, which was then investigated by the Economic Crimes Unit.

She made headlines last year after being voted off the board of directors of the Canadian Lakehead Exhibition in September after a disagreement over the organization’s open bar policy.

She resigned as chair of Christmas Cheer shortly afterwards and was replaced by Jolene Kemp.

Charges against the accused have not been proven in court.
