Derek Parks is seeking the Ontario Progressive Conservative nomination for Thunder Bay-Superior North. 

The Thunder Bay father of two owns an environmental consulting firm that works with mining companies. Parks hasn't lived in Thunder Bay for about two decades, calling southern Ontario home. 

He said he's been active in the party for about three years. 

The Thunder Bay-Superior North PC candidate was Tamara Johnson, but she was ousted from the party in February after making controversial remarks suggesting First Nations businesses have an unfair advantage on Facebook. 

Asked Friday if he thought he situation would affect his chances, Parks said he didn't think so. 

"I don't think it will benefit or hurt," he said.
