Gas prices soar across region

Motorists in Thunder Bay are in for a sticker-shock surprise at the pumps. Gasoline prices jetted up seven cents a litre at several stations across town on Thursday, climbing above the $1.46 mark.

Gasoline prices jetted up seven cents a litre at several stations across town on Thursday, climbing above the $1.46 mark.

That’s about 16 cents higher per litre than the Ontario average, according to the gasbuddy.com website, that estimates province-wide drivers pay about $1.30.9 for a litre of regular unleaded fuel. The Canadian average is about $1.33.1.

The lowest price in the Thunder Bay area continues to be THP Variety at Fort William First Nation, where gasoline costs $1.14.5 a litre.

According to the site, Thunder Bay, Atikokan, Sioux Lookout and several stations along the North Shore have the highest gas prices in the province.
