City police officers to receive service awards Thursday

More than a dozen city police officers will be awarded for their service Thursday night. The Exemplary Service Award will be given to 15 officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service who have more than 20 years of service.

The Exemplary Service Award will be given to 15 officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service who have more than 20 years of service.

A medal is given for 20 years and a service bar for every 10 years after that.

A dedication to service award will be given to civilian members of the Thunder Bay Police Service with 20 or 30 years.

Sgt. John Read will be awarded with the Common Security and Defence Service Medal from NATO for his time in Afghanistan.

The ceremony starts at 8:30 p.m. At the Valhalla Inn.
