A city police officer has been charged following a crash that sent four people to the hospital on April 10.

In a news release issued Wednesday,  the Thunder Bay Police Service confirmed that the investigation into the crash at the corner of Arthur and Franklin Streets had concluded.

The officer driving the police cruiser has been charged with failing to stop for a red light. The officer was en route to a non-emergency service call at the time of the crash.

Police say the officer was not injured and is back to work on her regular schedule.

The driver of the other vehicle and her two children suffered minor injuries.

Both vehicles were heavily damaged and a traffic light had been knocked down as a result of the evening crash.
