Attempted murder charge laid in Stirling Township

A Stirling Township man is facing attempted murder charges after a propane line was severed an ignition device allegedly placed beneath the venting fuel.

A Stirling Township man is facing attempted murder charges after a propane line was severed an ignition device allegedly placed beneath the venting fuel.

Nipgion OPP say they responded to a suspected case of mischief early Monday morning at a Stirling Township residence on Highway 11/17.

The alleged victim reported he attempted to leave his residence, only to find the door secured from the outside. After forcing his way out, he observed the propane tank.

Forty-nine-year-old Richard Joseph Grandbois was arrested and charged with attempt to commit murder, mischief endangering life and attempt arson, damage to property.

Grandbois remains in custody and will appear in court on May 13.
