THUNDER BAY – The case involving the chair of the Christmas Cheer Fund will return to court next month to face charges of defrauding the organization.

Linda Gambee, who faces a count of fraud over $5,000 and a count of breach and trust, had her case adjourned until June 10 at the Thunder Bay Courthouse.

She is accused of defrauding $22,000 from the Christmas Cheer Fund.

Gambee was not present in court on Tuesday. She was represented by attorney Gil Labine, who said he was still awaiting further disclosure from the Crown.

Thunder Bay Police Service received a complaint in January, which was then investigated by the Economic Crime Unit. Gambee was charged in February.

She resigned as chair of the Christmas Cheer Fund last fall following a high-profile dispute with the Canadian Lakehead Exhibition board of directors, where she was ousted from the CLE board for her public opposition to an open bar policy.

None of the charges against the accused have been proven in court.
