New ruling means courts won’t push MOE to rule on Big Thunder Wind Park

An attempt to have the courts push the Ministry of Environment to rule on the Big Thunder Wind Park has failed.

Last month, Horizon Wind Inc. filed an application for judicial review in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. The company wanted the MOE to make a final decision on the proposed 16-turbine project.

In a ruling made Friday, a judge felt it was not appropriate to rule on the judicial review.

A Horizon spokesperson says they are still expecting a decision on the project in the "very near future."

The Big Thunder Wind Park is the focus of numerous court challenges filed by the Fort William First Nation.

Those are expected to be heard over the next few months.
