Firefighters quickly snuffed out a house fire on Redwood Avenue Wednesday morning.

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue Craig Venables said two people and a dog were in the semi-detached home when the fire was called in. Firefighters at the scene spotted smoke when they arrived and found the fire in a second floor bedroom.

"It was basically a mattress fire," Venables said, the mattress heavily burned on the lawn outside of the house.

A man inside the home tried to put the fire out himself before calling 911.

Venables said the cause of the fire is under investigation.

No one was injured as a result of the blaze.
