SHUNIAH, Ont. -- The heavy rainfall we got the past few days has caused several washouts and road closures in the Municipality of Shuniah.
A section of Eldorado Beach Road was completely destroyed. A nearby resident says a broken beaver dam was also a factor in washing out the road.
Shuniah Fire Chief Blair Arthur says the route will be closed at least until Wednesday.
Another washout on Scott Drive was repaired Monday night.
Arthur says Shuniah has not declared a state of emergency, and will not seek financial assistance from the province for the repairs.
Meanwhile, Pass Lake Road East has also been hit with high water, and will remain closed for at least another day.
There was some damage to Amethyst Harbour Road. It's down to one lane, but still passable for motorists.
