FORT FRANCES, Ont. -- Another mutilated bear corpse has been discovered in Northwestern Ontario.

MNR spokeswoman Michelle Nowak confirmed that a bear carcass with its paws removed had been discovered off Highway 11 near Fort Frances Wednesday morning.

The incident is under investigation, but few details are known at this time.

This is the second known incident this spring of a bear carcass being discovered with its paws removed.

The first report came in late May after the body of a bear was found in Fort William First Nations with its paws removed.

Anishinabek Police Service acting Sgt. Rob Pelletier told tbnewswatch.com then that it appeared the bear’s paws were cut off with a saw.
