TRAFFIC: Highway 11 washed out near Fort Frances

FORT FRANCES, Ont. -- A section of Highway 11 has been washed out. Officials with the Rainy River detachment of the OPP say a section of the highway just west of Van Drunen Road in LaVelle Township washed out at about 9 a.m. Thursday.

Officials with the Rainy River detachment of the OPP say a section of the highway just west of Van Drunen Road in LaVelle Township washed out at about 9 a.m. Thursday.

Both lanes of the highway have been completely washed out due to heavy rain overnight.

Traffic travelling between Fort Frances and Emo, Ont., are being diverted to Highway 602.

The Ministry of Transportation has been notified and will be assisting with the highway closure.

The OPP is asking the public not to contact the OPP communications centre for road closure information, but instead monitor local media for updates or call 511 for more information.
