THUNDER BAY -- A teenager involved in last week’s fatal collision that killed a 59-year-old female motorcyclist could face up to six months in jail if convicted.
The 19-year-old driver, who police have not named, was charged on Wednesday with careless driving.
If convicted, the suspect could also be fined as much as $2,000.
Marianne Guitard of Thunder Bay died as a result of injuries sustained in the North Cumberland Street crash.
Police allege the suspect’s vehicle came into contact with the motorcycle on which Guitard was a passenger, throwing both she and the 64-year-old driver to the pavement.
Both the motorcycle driver and the suspect were taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries and subsequently released.
Further charges are pending, police said in a release.
