THUNDER BAY -- The OPP's underwater search and recovery unit has stopped looking for a missing boater in Kaministiquia as they have been re-tasked to another investigation in Sioux Lookout.

The dive team arrived in the city Monday to assist the Thunder Bay OPP detachment search for a 57-year-old boater who went missing Saturday evening.

Staff Sgt. Jim Graham said the divers left early Friday morning for the Sioux Lookout area.

"They didn't leave the investigation hanging. They had actually conducted everything they could and had informed us and the family that they had exhausted what they were able to do in terms of what their capabilities are," he told CKPR Radio Friday afternoon.

The local detachment will continue their search of the river and Graham said they also hope to have a helicopter assist them with an aerial search.

"We're going to continue with what we can do," said Graham.

The man has been missing since the evening of June 14 when he left his camp in the Forbes River Road and Silver Falls area.

His family located the boat the next day near Kakabeka Falls.
