THUNDER BAY – A new fire hall to replace the old Neebing facility is expected to be commissioned by August.

That’s the most recent prediction from Thunder Bay Fire Rescue John Hay.

Both fire halls are under construction. The new Station 7 will replace the old Neebing Fire Hall and will be available and likely commissioned in late August of this year. While the new Westfort Station 6 is expected to be commissioned by December.

“The fact that we’re moving the Westfort station a little bit south and a little bit west is actually improving coverage for the southwest corner of town,” Hay said said.

The new fire halls will be fully staffed as the new Neebing station was a replacement and the new Westfort station was a replacement and a move.
