Local gamblers won’t have to take their fun and games south of the border after all.

Workers at Thunder Bay’s Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation Casino on Thursday voted 85 per cent in favour of accepting a contract settlement that includes a 1.75 per cent raise, and an $800 signing bonus.

The contract is a three-year deal and affects about 200 employees.

Get the facts straight...it was $800 signing bonus which is less than 1% raise and that 1.75% onlt takes effect on the last year of the contrac but those that have pensions and medical coverage wont be touched and thats the most inportant...

These " government workers" are and have been under paid, majority are part time and receive little to no benefits. They work crappy shifts and have very little home life with their families.

Front line workers have not seen a raise in years, in fact have taken pay cuts due to OLG changes in pay out rates.

OLG " government managers" collect a hefty bonus each year, front line workers do not. If you look at the sunshine list you will see a great many names of people who work for the OLG that are on the sunshine list.

Congratulation to the workers for sticking to your guns and demanding a raise.

Shame on you Yellow Snow.

I have seen the contact book and what everyone gets paid. They get paid quite well for doing nothing too strenous or stressful...if the 'majority' is part time and unhappy about eratic hours find work else where....

Give it a rest.
They choose to work there.
You dont like to work nights??? Find another job.
The benefits they get are better then most.
But of course, its not enough so they join a dying union.

What a joke.

Or you could use one of the many online gambling sites out there ;)

no need to deal with people who seem to think they "own" a certain machine, no need to deal with people at a card table who chastise you for making a "wrong move" and not thinking about other players.
