THUNDER BAY -- Access to the waterfront boat launch and parking lot will be limited starting later this week.

Roadwork and landscaping work will begin at Prince Arthur’s Landing near the Pearl Street entrance, with the rest of the park unaffected.

On-site parking will be limited and the city is asking people to use public transit, active transportation or to park in the downtown core.
The north boat launch will be closed for the remainder of the season.

Other public boat launch facilities available include Mission Island, Fisherman’s Park, Silver Harbour Conservation Area, Little Trout Bay, Nipigon Marina and Red Rock Marina.

The festival area, playground, skate park, splash pad, Baggage Building as well as Piers 1, 2, and 3 can still be accessed by vehicle from Marina Park Drive.

Road work and landscaping ? Are there not semi-trucks hauling building materials to the condo project ?

They go over the overpass, through the park, and enter where the Hotel is being built.

Actually access to the building site, contractor parking area south of the caboose and contractor lay down area along with the boat launch is still available from Pearl Street.
Access to Piers 1,2&3 is from the overpass. Those with a valid boaters pass will be able to access the Piers from the overpass on event days/evenings.

Hope this clears up any questions.

You haven't been able to park your trailer in there after launching a boat. Parking has been non-existent all summer, due to the construction workers taking up all the parking spots. Might as well shut down the marina because after the condos are finished there will be no more parking left at all!

RicknB, I am not sure what marina you are talking about, but I go to the Marina every day and I do park in the parking lot at the boat launch area to look at the construction happening and I can assure you there are numerous parking spaces and I have witnessed people parking their boat trailers in that lot. The construction workers are parking pretty much outside the parking lot, except for a few rows where they do park, usually leaving at 3:00 pm, after their work day. At the other end of the construction site, on half of the lot, which eventually will not be such, is designated for construction workers. The other half is for the patrons of Prince Arthur's Landing. That lot will eventually be converted into the Marketplace Building.
