THUNDER BAY – A convicted sex offender accused of sexually assaulting an intellectually disabled man has had the counts against him withdrawn, though he still faces charges in a separate case.

THUNDER BAY – A convicted sex offender accused of sexually assaulting an intellectually disabled man has had the counts against him withdrawn, though he still faces charges in a separate case.

Ronald John Fossum had one count of sexual assault and one count of failure to comply with an undertaking withdrawn during an appearance at the Thunder Bay Courthouse on Tuesday.

The Crown told the court a review of the charges determined the likelihood of a conviction was unlikely.

Fossum, 55, is facing historic sexual assault charges involving two minors. That case had a preliminary hearing earlier this month.
