THUNDER BAY -- The case of a 28-year-old charged after a fatal highway collision earlier this year is continuing to work its way through the courts.

Tyler Boily appeared at the Thunder Bay Courthouse Tuesday morning, where a date was set for a preliminary hearing.

Boily is facing charges of criminal negligence causing death, dangerous driving causing death as well as impaired driving after allegedly being involved in a March 22 collision on Highway 61 between Arthur Street and the Harbour Expressway.

The early morning collision claimed the lives of Michelle Parker and Daniel Brooks, both 28.

It is alleged a pickup travelling south on Highway 61 between Harbour Expressway and Arthur Street struck a guardrail, lost control and collided with the vehicle containing the victims.

Brooks was pronounced dead at the scene and Parker was taken to hospital where she later died.

Boily suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Boily sought bail at a previous court appearance on April 28. That bail was denied.

The preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Sept. 24.

None of the charges against the accused have been proven in court.
