THUNDER BAY -- Ontario’s Premier is in Northwestern Ontario.

It's Kathleen Wynne's first trip to the region since she secured a majority government in the June provincial election.

The Premier was in the Far North Tuesday, travelling to Marten Falls First Nation.  That's where the Annual General Meeting of the Matawa First Nations was being held and Wynne was the special guest.

Back in May Wynne signed a Framework Agreement with the Matawa Chiefs, promising to work with them to develop the Ring of Fire mining area.

Wynne will also make a stop in Thunder Bay on Wednesday.

A news conference regarding the Regional Research Institute is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital.

Why not us for a change?
Hell, if they're giving it out - I'm sure there's an item or two on the city's wish list that might come up in conversation.

lori says:
ring of fire dude, you must have missed the other news headline. I'll repeat it for you.

"Meanwhile, Prime Minister Stephan Harper will be flying over Thunder Bay". Continuing to ignore this part of the province the PM will fly over T.Bay on his way to visit his friend in Kenora. People will remember the PM closing the scientific research into the great lakes, attempting to sign a free trade agreement that might jeopardize Bombardier, and virtually ignoring T.Bay over the past 8 years. More details to follow.

Yeap Ring----- you sure know your stuff.

So now you're putting the feds against your beloved spend, spend, spend Liberals? Seriously Lori. If you cannot see the problem with this, then you have a serious problem.

Sorry I missed the Harper headline , was it on this site ? Nice try at deflecting attention away from Premier Wynne and the Liberal spending habit scandals though . Are you sure your name is Lori and not Bill or Mike ?

As a person that voted against the Liberals and who was very surprised and somewhat disappointed of their strong majority in both the city and the province, I wish premiere Wynne and the local MPPs all the best in running the province the next 4 years. I wasn't happy, but I support democracy. The people have spoken. I support them that they'll make our province strong during their term. I'm sure they're smarter than us armchair quarterbacks. Premiere Wynne, good luck to the Liberals and our province. May we prosper during you term.

We should actually spend like crazy right now....go as deep in debt as we can....it will all vaporize in a few years...just wait and see.

The Ontario Voters elected a Majority Liberal government who were totally unaccountable for any fiscal responsibility. Billions and Billions wasted. Budget items like the NEW TAX on aviation fuel is going to hurt Northern communities and drive up airline costs which get passed down to us. Maybe the Premier can "solve" al the cities issues by visiting Thunder Bay. Wave her hand and viola 1 Billion for Ring of Fire, throw in 50 Million for "event center", 100 million for new world class tourist attracting bridge to FWFN. The Local Liberals will be doing back flips at all the Photo opportunities. Maybe she will announce new 500 million contract for more Street Cars and Go Trains. Maybe new Bridges for the Express-way for another 500 million.
