THUNDER BAY -- All five suspects in the city’s fifth homicide of the year made appearances in bail court Friday.

James Anthony Chapais, Keith Mishenene, Felton Sakanee, Larissa Shingabis and Kevin Wabason are charged with second-degree murder in the death 44-year-old Lloyd Oskineegish, whose body was discovered on July 18 off of Field Street in the Intercity area.

All of the suspects remain in custody and appeared via video at the Thunder Bay Courthouse Friday afternoon.

Chapais, 33 was remanded until Aug. 25 when he will again appear by video. Mishenene, 21, was remanded until Aug. 8 when he will appear in person and Wabason, 38, was remanded until Aug. 5 to appear via video.
Shingabis, 20, and Sakanee, 26, were both remanded to Aug. 22 where they will appear via video.

The homicide investigation began after the discovery of a burned body in the wooded area off of Field Street and police say Oskineegish died following a violent incident in the wooded area off of Field Street.

Mishenene, Sakanee and Shingabis were arrested shortly after the body was discovered and Wabason was arrested last Wednesday.

Police confirmed they had arrested Chapais, the fifth suspect, last Friday on Academy Drive without incident.

None of the allegations against any of the accused have been proven in court.
