THUNDER BAY -- A man is in hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a pickup truck early Sunday morning.

OPP say the collision occurred shortly after 3 a.m. at the intersection of the Thunder Bay Expressway and where Red River Road joins with Dawson Road.

No further details were made available regarding the man's condition.

The right exit from Red River Road onto the Expressway and left turn lane from Dawson onto the Expressway remained closed during the late morning hours as investigators remained on scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
