THUNDER BAY -- Reports of smart meters in Saskatchewan causing house fires has raised concerns here in Ontario.
But Thunder Bay Hydro Vice President Tim Wilson says the meters used out West are from a different Vendor than those being used in this province and city.
Wilson did say that some meters reportedly stopped reading, a minor issue that is to be expected when installing new devices.
“We expected a certain per cent of those issues to happen, but we just go out and replace (the smart meter) with a new one,” he said during an interview with CKPR Radio Wednesday. “Those have all been non-reading issues as opposed to being malfunctioning or overheating.”
