THUNDER BAY -- Four of the suspects in the city’s fifth murder investigation of the year appeared in bail court Friday.

Larissa Shingebis, Felton Sakanee, Kevin Wabason and Christopher Meeseetawagesic were charged with second-degree murder in addition to James Anthony Chapais and Keith Mishenene in the death of 44-year-old Lloyd Oskineegish.

Oskineegish’s body was found in a wooded area off of Field Street on July 18.

The investigation began when the victim’s burned remains were found and city police said Oskineegish died following a violent incident.

Shingebis, 20, Sakanee, 26, Wabason, 38, and Meeseetawagesic, 25, all appeared via video at the Thunder Bay Courthouse Friday.

All four suspects were remanded until Sept. 5, when Mishenene, 21, is also set to appear next in court.

Chapais, 33, has a court date of Aug. 25.

All six suspects are in custody.

None of the allegations against any of the six suspects have been proven in court.
