Run or Dye event cancelled, participants awaiting refunds

By Leith Dunick, tbnewswatch.com

A colourful fun run scheduled for Boulevard Lake has been cancelled.

The Run or Dye event drew thousands in 2013, its first visit to Thunder Bay, but the company that organizes the runs have given little indication why they pulled out of Thunder Bay.

It appears not to be an isolated issue, with similar runs in Georgia and Florida being cancelled and participants who registered left to wonder if they’ll be getting full refunds.

Outraged participants took to Facebook to voice their displeasure with the company.

“I have yet to receive my refunds,” wrote a woman identifying herself as Rodi-Lynn Rusnick Kinisky.

“I was live-chatting online through the Run or Dye link Thursday and was told the refunds would take seven to 10 business days to show up on my credit-card statement. Yesterday was 10 business days,” Kinisky said.

“I am trying to live chat again today. They did not give refunds to those events they cancelled in the U.S.A., although it was never an option for those folks. It was an option for us.”

She later said she had been in touch with race organizers, who informed her she had been refunded.

Not everyone was having the same success.

“My friend and I have had no luck in contacting anyone and no refunds as of yet,” Liz Krieg wrote Tuesday afternoon.

The Run or Dye website offers four solutions to pre-registered participants.

Offers include two tickets to any other Run or Dye run event, one ticket to an event plus a $25 gift card to the company’s online store, race swag and a $25 gift card or a full refund.

Similar to jogging through paintball encounters in a high viz suit high on psychedelics ... this group doesn't even raise money for charity, it states its just a fun filled run in eco friendly paint, sounds straight bunk ...

Perhaps those who are waiting for refunds should call their credit card company and get the charge reversed instead of waiting. This is a terrible way to do business.

This run or dye scheme is rediculous. You pay us so you can run and we will spray you with corn starch. They claim proceeds go to charity sometimes but I am sure if you dig deep into the books you will find a very small percentage of money goes to any local charity. This is like a modern cult, they even feed you with slogans about how great you will feel afterwards, almost if this corn spray will give you some extra connection to a higher power. Praise the Dye everyone! I feel great with this colour crap all over me!

I've been trying to find a clever retort that I can make about something I do not participate in, never did participate in, know nothing about and also trying to somehow make it Thunder Bay's fault as well. Oh...wait a minute you guys beat me to it. Oh and by the way everyone values the opinion of somebody named unknowncronik, I am sure...
Grow up guys this is so beyond ridiculous.
