Not having an interconnected fire alarm tested and maintained has cost a Machar Avenue apartment owner a $3,000 fine.
A city news release says a complaint was filed last spring.
Thunder Bay Fire Rescue Chief John Hay says it’s up to building owners to meet the Ontario Fire Code.
“Thunder Bay Fire Rescue has zero tolerance towards fire-code infractions,” Hay said. “Failure to comply could result in a ticket for $235 or a fine of up to $50,000 for individuals or $100,000 for corporations.”
