THUNDER BAY -- Brian Stevenson says he's been able to do a lot in just four years.

The Lakehead University president was recently given another five-year contract, which starts next August, in a move the school's board of governors hope will give the place continuity.

"I feel like I've always been here,'" Stevenson said. "So it's been a great time."

From the Nanabijou Day Care Centre to the law school, Stevenson said he's proud of what the university's been able to accomplish and is glad to be at the helm while Lakehead continues its academic and strategic plan.

"This is my number one task," he said.

He's also proud to be able to take the university into its 50th year in 2015 when the school has a years' worth of celebrations planned.

"It's a huge milestone," Stevenson said.

Board of governor chair Cameron Clark said it's Stevenson's energy that makes the board excited to have him staying on.

"The university is a better place now than when Dr. Stevenson started," Clark said.

And it will be in an even better place five years from now he added.
