Habitat for Humanity resumes construction on new home after donations come in

THUNDER BAY -- Habitat for Humanity can resume construction on a home they had planned to postpone because of a lack of funding.

THUNDER BAY -- Habitat for Humanity can resume construction on a home they had planned to postpone because of a lack of funding.

Earlier in the week, the local chapter of the not-for-profit organization announced they had to push the build of a semi-detached Hodder Avenue house to next year because of lack of donations and recent thefts at their ReStore retail outlet.

After the postponement was made public, two donations were made so the build could continue.

The donors wish to remain anonymous.

“It is amazing that two individuals have stepped up to ensure that two Thunder Bay families in need will receive a new home this year,” said board chairman Andrew Campbell in a media released issued late Friday afternoon.

Volunteers are expected to be back on site next week and the house is expected to be complete before the New Year depending on weather.

Thunder Bay Insurance-Gillons had also raised more than $80,000 for the build.
