Maureen Comuzzi-Stehmann says she plans to take another stab at federal politics.

Comuzzi-Stehmann on Wednesday announced she plans to seek the Conservative nomination in Thunder Bay-Rainy River.

In 2011 she finished a distant second on the ballot behind NDP candidate John Rafferty, garnering about 27.2 per cent of the vote.

If chosen and subsequently elected, she wants to focus on the economy, youth job creation and assistance for seniors.

"The Harper government has done a tremendous job of getting the country's finances in order. The plan to eliminate the deficit by next year and control spending and waste have made Canada the envy of the world, and put the government in the unique position of being able to move our region's economy forward,” Comuzzi-Stehmann said in a release.

“I believe continuing to elect representatives from the opposition party has failed to generate meaningful jobs and investment in our communities, and I look forward to bringing our needs to the table of the governing party after the next federal election.”

The federal election is scheduled for Oct. 19, 2015.
